The Final Stretch!

I’m finally coming into the final stretch for release of The 13. Members of my newsletter have already been given the first two chapters. You can get those free chapters here if you’re interested in The 13. This will sign you up for my newsletter as well, giving you the chance to get all this stuff first!

It’s been a hectic couple of weeks as I’ve been sending out advance review copies and getting all my ducks in a row. I’m aiming for a May 2nd release. I want to give some time to my team to make sure all their feedback gets incorporated into the final release. I still have a few slots open, so if you’d like to be a member of the M.M. Perry Advance Review Team (ART), send me an email at

What does it mean to be part of M.M. Perry’s ART? Well, for starters, you get to read my books before anyone else. I know not everyone is interested in both science fiction and fantasy, so you can pick which books you want to be on the team for. If you join the team, you aren’t obligated in any way to comment on books you aren’t interested in reading.

Below is a brief blurb about The 13 if being an advance reviewer intrigues you:

The 13 is the first part of an exciting new space opera series. 13 colony ships were launched into space almost 700 years ago. The story picks up 2 years out from their destination. Things didn’t go exactly as planned and the ships each have their own unique issues they’ve had to contend with over the centuries. The 13 focuses on the Magellan and the Tereshkova, sister ships that fly at the back of the fleet.

A thirteen book series sounds daunting, doesn’t it? Well, good thing it’s not thirteen books long. 🙂 As the ships get closer to their goal, they’ll battle for control of the fourteenth ship, an unmanned ship crammed full of supplies perfect for a budding civilization. Books in the series are titled based on how many manned ships are left in the fleet. A number or two may have to be skipped if more than one ship falls.

One of the things I really hate is getting into a series only to have it stall out. I’m very conscious of the fact that there is an unwritten pact between readers and an author. The readers help support the author largely by getting the word out about their books. They help the author become successful enough that they can dedicate more time to writing, and less to the other aspects of self publishing, like marketing. So it’s important to me that I finish my series in a timely manner for fans of my work. That’s why the second book in the series, The 12, has already been sent off to my editor. As soon as it gets back, I will be hard at work making it ready for fans of the series. And of course, members of my Advance Review Team will get it first. Maybe even by mid-summer – fingers crossed!

So what if you aren’t interested in The 13 or science fiction in general? Before the summer is up, I hope to have my tentatively titled fantasy book, Charmed Legacy, published. It’s also currently in my editor’s hands.

Charmed Legacy is a story about a young woman named Fiona who finds out her inheritance from her grandmother is far more than just a cottage on a loch in Scotland. She discovers a mysterious letter from her grandmother giving Fiona one last request. As she sets out to honor this request, Fiona finds out there is more to the nearby loch than just water. It’s a gateway to an adjacent realm where all the fairy tales she was told growing up are true. She also learns her grandmother had an unfulfilled obligation to the people of this magical land, and now those people look to Fiona to fulfill that obligation.

I’m excited to announce this standalone book here for the first time. It’s been completed since Christmas, but I have a backlog of editing to get through so it’s release won’t be until the end of summer. I had a lot of fun writing it, particularly with the characters. It’s possible that by June I’ll have a sneak peek of it for any interested readers, and I’ll start signing up people for that book’s ART then as well. Here’s the cover I’m working with at the moment. Remember, if you’re interested in news about my upcoming releases, and want in on free chapters and other goodies, you should sign up for my newsletter. I never spam and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Finally, I’ll leave you with this promo video for The 13. I hope you enjoy it!
